Postdoctoral Fellow – Cancer Therapy / Gene Therapy
The Laboratory of Targeted Therapeutics in the Department of Pharmaceutics at Rutgers University is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for a full-time appointment in Piscataway, New Jersey. The campus is located 30 minutes south of New York City. Applications ONLY from applicants who are currently in the United States will be accepted.
Project Description: We are looking for a highly motivated postdoc to work on a translational research project funded by the US National Institutes of Health (NIH). The research project is focused on the development of targeted therapeutic systems for image-guided suicide gene therapy of cancer. The prime objective of this research is to develop a therapeutic protocol that can effectively kill both differentiating cancer cells and cancer stem cells and demonstrate not only eradication of the primary tumors but also inhibition of relapse. Minimum Qualifications:
The candidate must have PhD with less than 3 years of postdoctoral experience in one of the following disciplines: Cancer Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering or related field. The candidate must have experience with cancer stem cells and cancer therapy. Experiences with suicide gene therapy, enzyme/prodrug systems and xenograft tumor models in mice are a plus. Fluency in speaking and writing English is required. Candidate must have a desire to learn new techniques, write manuscripts/reports/protocols, train students and be able to work independently. The applicant must be able to multitask and interested in contributing to several other ongoing projects in the lab. These projects are focused on the development of nanotechnology-based (Nanomedicine), stem cell-based (cell therapy) and immune system-based (immunotherapy) methodologies for targeted cancer therapy.
Salary: Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
