Postdoctoral researcher on the identification of antimicrobial peptides : Leiden, Netherlands
The postdoc will be working on the identification and mode of action of antimicrobial peptides. The project is funded by the Dutch Top Sector (NWO TKI-NCI) project Syngenopep. Our consortium will identify novel antibacterial peptides in the venoms of snakes, scorpions and spiders. In addition, many promising antimicrobial peptides were previously identified in actinomycetes, for which the structure and gene cluster have not or only partially been identified. These include both ribosomal peptides (RiPP; especially lantibiotics) and nonribosomal peptides (NRPS).
Description
• PhD in a relevant field and proven ability of producing scientific output;• Extensive expertise with different chromatography and mass spectrometry methods;• Expertise with molecular biology and microbiology;• Good knowledge of bioinformatics of biosynthetic pathways for microbial natural products;• Excellent communication skills;• Excellent knowledge of English;• Outstanding candidates for a PhD position are also invited to apply but they should have a proven;• Track record (and publications) in this field of research.
Benefits
We offer a 1.0 fte, 3 year term position, with the possibility of renewal (depending on funds). Salary range from € 2.476,- to € 3.908,- (pay scale 10) gross per month, based on a full time employment in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities.
