A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Yael Mosse, Oncology Division, at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Research Institute, an interdisciplinary institution dedicated to conducting basic, clinical and translational research on conditions and diseases that affect children. CHOP postdoctoral fellows receive mentored training in a rich scientific environment that includes both the CHOP and University of Pennsylvania research communities.

DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS:
Dr. Mosse’s laboratory focuses on delineating signaling pathways responsible for neuroblastoma tumorigenesis with particular emphasis on ALK (Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase), a receptor tyrosine kinase previously found to drive neuroblastoma growth in a subset of high risk patients. Additionally, her laboratory utilizes in vitro and in vivo models to elucidate factors and signals responsible for mediating both intrinsic and acquired resistance of neuroblastoma to ALK inhibitors. In a collaborative manner. Dr. Mosse’s laboratory also works on highly translational projects that focus on identification of new generation ALK inhibitors and other relevant therapeutic targets to treat patients with neuroblastoma.

The desired candidate must have a degree (PhD and/or MD) in Cell biology, Biochemistry or pharmacology. In addition, a proficiency in in vivo techniques is strongly desired. A strong record of high quality publications in peer-reviewed journals is a plus. The postdoctoral fellow will assume responsibility for a specific, on-going or new research project under the direction/guidance of his or her mentor. The postdoc experience will serve to extend, refine and enhance skills necessary for professional and career development, and will enable the individual to develop a scientific critical thinking and problem solving skills. It is expected that this individual is highly motivated and show ability to work independently and as part of a highly interactive team. Postdocs will be expected to participate in project planning, interpretation/evaluation of data, and report of results.
Postdocs will also be expected to acquire technical, lab management, and manuscript/grant writing skills; and participate in seminars, lectures, poster sessions and presentations at meetings. Postdoctoral fellows also may be required to develop new methods and protocols for research, and assist with the development of other research projects in the lab.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Terminal degree (PhD, MD, DVM, etc.) in cancer biology, cancer genetics and/or computational biology. In addition, a proficiency in state-of-the-art laboratory techniques such as ChIP-Seq and/or CRISPR-Cas genome editing is strongly desired.
