Applications are invited for four postdoctoral positions to join the vibrant and dynamic team of Prof. Lee Cronin (Complex Chemical Systems Group – www.croninlab.com).

The positions are available from April 2015 for 24 months.

The salary for all positions is: Grade 7: £33,242 – £37,394 or Grade 8: £40,847 – £47,328.

For appointment at grade 8 some post doctorial experience in multiple areas as listed, or at the interdisciplinary interface and / or some expertise in running a team would be required, as well as specific advanced skills in some cases. Position 1:
Research Associate / Fellow in Chemical Information

You will be working in the area of chemical information, databasing, exploring chemical space working in a multidisciplinary team. You will have skills in some of the following: chemical databases, programming, statistical analysis, understanding chemical reactivity, scripting and algorithm development. Applicants should have a degree / PhD in either Computing Science / Robotics or Chemistry / Chemical Engineering.

Position 2:
Research Associate / Fellow in Chemical Robotics and Programming

You will be working in the area of automating bespoke lab-ware for chemical robotics working in a multidisciplinary team. You will have skills in some of the following: programming, electronics, firmware, 3D design, 3D printing, fluidics. Expertise in chemistry an advantage but not essential. Applicants should have a degree / PhD in either Computing Science / Robotics or Chemistry / Chemical Engineering

Position 3:
Research Associate / Fellow in Prebiotic Bio-Informatics and Proteomics

You will be principally working in the area of automated prebiotic chemistry, especially the automation of analysis and data processing. Some experience in programming/scripting (e.g. Python, r, C+, Labview) and development of new workflows for the generation/treatment of large data sets is essential. Experience or interest in some of the following areas is desired: i) prebiotic chemistry, ii) bio-informatics / proteomics, iii) HPLC-MS and other analytical method development. Applicants should have a degree / PhD in either the Physical or Biological Sciences with a deep interest in analytical science.

Position 4:
Research Fellow in Flow Chemistry and Spectroscopy

The researcher will be working in the area of molecular synthesis, flow chemistry, combinatorial synthesis, with feedback control via the automation and control of labware and spectroscopy. Experience with Labview or other programming languages e.g. python, C+. Interest or experience in robotics, 3D printing, and image analysis and feedback control systems would also be an advantage but not essential. Applicants should have a degree / PhD in either Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
