Highly motivated, organized individual with Doctoral Degree sought for a position as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Psychiatry of Columbia University in New York City. The research project aims to identify receptors and intracellular molecules regulating cell proliferation, maturation and survival in the context of studying adult neurogenesis in human brain tissue. We are interested in studying psychiatric and neurological diseases, the effect of drugs, medications and environmental factors on stem cells and their progeny. The project is funded by a 5-year grant from the National Institutes of Health.
Experimental duties will include:
Immunohistochemistry, stereology, confocal microscopy, molecular biology, PCR, DNA and RNA purification, plasmid cloning, gene expression analysis by qPCR and western blotting, mammalian cell cultures.
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in fields related to biomedical sciences, publications in high profile journals as a primary author and three experts in related fields as references, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills.
