英国伦敦大学学院招收材料科学博士后
UCL Chemistry; UCL Centre for Materials Discovery
Research Associate in Materials for Anti-icing Coatings
The appointment will be full time on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £33,353 to £40,313 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
Applications are invited for a Research Associate position within the Centre for Materials Discovery at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physical Sciences. The successful candidate will be involved in the design, development and fabrication of novel anti-icing coatings based on surface textured/treated coatings and nanocomposite coating concepts in order to obtain the desired anti-icing properties. The relationships between the surface topography/chemical compositions of anti-icing coating and the thermal/mechanical interaction of coatings with ice will be established. The developed anti-icing coatings will be applied to electro-thermal systems, for a combined study and validation of the coatings with electro-thermal systems.
This EU project provides an excellent opportunity to collaborate with academia and a major industrial company. The project involves strong academic and industrial collaboration. In addition to the duties outlined above, the postholder will be required to present results and reports at progress meetings, prepare papers for publication and contribute to project supervision.
The appointment is funded by the EU for one year in the first instance and is available to start immediately.
The successful candidate must have (or be about to obtain) a PhD in Materials Science/Engineering, Materials Chemistry, or equivalent in a relevant area, together with the relevant research skills, knowledge and published papers on processing of thin films and nanomaterials. Experience in chemical vapour deposition and relevant materials characterisation is also essential. The appointee must be an ambitious and outstanding experimental scientist with experience of synthesis and characterisation of anti-icing materials.
Please note, appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6 (salary £29,193 – £30,783 per annum including London Allowance of £2,919 p.a.) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
