2 Postdoctoral Fellow/Scholar positions and a Research Technician Position Available in The University of Chicago : Chicago, IL, United States

Two research positions for postdoctoral fellows/scholars are available immediately in the Section of Hematology/Oncology, the Department of Medicine at the University of Chicago. You will study the function and regulatory pathways of protein-coding and non-coding genes in normal hematopoiesis, development of leukemia and lymphoma, and self-renewal of cancer stem cells. The candidates for the postdoctoral scholar positions should have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree(s), and a solid background in biochemistry, mouse models, hematology, pathology, epigenetics, and/or stem cell research is preferred for. The candidates should not have more than three years of postdoc training experience. The candidates should be highly motivated individuals with the ability to work in a team environment and with good oral and written communication skills in English. The major research interests of the laboratory of Dr. Jianjun Chen (http://biomed.uchicago.edu/common/faculty/chen_jianjun.html) are (i) conducting integrated analyses of cancer-omics on both non-coding (particularly, microRNAs) and coding genes to obtain a more complete understanding of the complex genetic and epigenetic alterations in cancer development and to identify novel markers and targets for the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of cancers; (ii) cancer epigenetics research related to DNA demtheylation enzymes and mRNA modification enzymes in cancers; (iii) cancer stem cell research; (iv) reprogramming of somatic/hematopoietic cells using microRNAs or small molecules; and (v) translational research in developing microRNA-based nanaoparticles and identification of small compounds to treat cancers. Dr. Chen’s lab is well supported by NIH/NCI (with two new 5-years R01 grants), American Cancer Society (ACS), Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLs) grants, and others. The University of Chicago is an Affirmative Action / Equal Opportunity employer. To apply, please send (i) your curriculum vitae, (ii) a cover letter describing your background, research interests and career goals and (iii) contact information for three references to Dr. Jianjun Chen (jchen@bsd.uchicago.edu)….
