Applications are invited for the position of Fixed Term Research Officer in the Swansea University Sleep Laboratory, in the College of Human and Health Sciences reference AC00893.
The Swansea University Sleep Laboratory (http://www.swansea.ac.uk/psychology/sleep-lab/) is one of the world’s foremost centres for the scientific study of the relationship of dreaming to the brain and to waking life variables. It also undertakes studies into sleep-dependent memory consolidation, and nightmares. We have extensive collaborations with other sleep laboratories worldwide, and the potential for collaborations in Swansea for brain imaging.
The Research Officer postholder will assist in designing various projects in the field of sleep and memory consolidation, and in the relationship of dream content to sleep-dependent memory consolidation, will lead the data collection on the studies, and will lead or assist in the writing up of papers for high impact factor journals. Data collection will occur at the Swansea University Sleep Laboratory and, for some participants, in their home environment.
This is a post-doc position for a researcher who wishes to progress to a career in the scientific investigation of the characteristics and possible functions of sleep, dreaming and consciousness. The post-holder will assist, and in some instances lead, the writing of grant applications.
Applicants must have a good honours degree in Psychology, Neuroscience (or related subject) and possess a PhD (or near completion) also in Psychology, Neuroscience (or related subject). Expertise in polysomnography or quantitative EEG or electrophysiology or evoked potentials methods is essential.
