Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Forest Modeling and Quantitative Silviculture : Orono, Uruguay

The University of Maine’s Center for Research on Sustainable Forests (CRSF; http://crsf.umaine.edu/) is seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Forest Modeling and Quantitative Silviculture. This is a full-time, 12-month, soft-money, post-doctoral research position with 50% responsibility under the National Science Foundation’s Center for Advanced Forestry Systems (CAFS; http://cnr.ncsu.edu/fer/cafs/) and 50% under the USFS Northeastern States Research Cooperative (NSRC; http://nsrcforest.org/). The objective of this position is to improve our understanding about the effects of silviculture and site factors on natural regeneration in the Acadian forest ecosystem.

The successful candidate is expected to pursue an independent research program to increase our understanding about the effects of partial harvest systems on the regeneration, growth, and productivity of forest stands. The successful candidate will have a PhD in Forestry or closely related field, experience with forest modeling, regeneration, silviculture, and forest ecology, as well as strong quantitative skills and demonstrated success publishing in scientific journals.
