A full time postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health (EPH) Division of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, in conjunction with the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center (UMGCC). The postdoc will develop computational methods and web tools for the analysis of multi-source biological data (e.g., genomic, transcriptomic and biological network data).

Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the Postdoc will include, but not limited to:
• Designing and implementing new algorithms and computational methods for next generation sequencing data analysis and biological network analysis
• Developing bioinformatics software tools and web services
• Integrating bioinformatics workflows and pipelines under computer cluster and cloud environments
• Publishing results of scientific work in peer-reviewed journals
• Providing bioinformatics support to collaborators

Qualifications
We are interested in recruiting a talented individual, driven by scientific curiosity. Prospective candidates should be highly motivated, enthusiastic about research, with an ability to think creatively and work independently. He/she should have:
• A PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, mathematics, physics, or related disciplines with training and experience in next generation sequencing data analysis (e.g., exome-seq, RNA-seq, and methylation-seq) and biological pathway and network studies
• Proficiency in a Unix/Linux environment and excellent computer programming skills (Perl or Python is required)
• A publication record in peer-reviewed journals that demonstrates knowledge of bioinformatics and integrative systems biology
• Good communication skills and excellent command of English
• Web development knowledge and experience in Apache, PHP, JavaScript, JQuery, CGI and SQL is preferred
