摘要:

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is searching for postdoctoral fellows to train in the area of infectious disease therapeutics development. The goal will be to train individuals in all aspects of developing therapies to meet the increasing threats from infectious pathogenic agents. This goal derives directly from the mission of the institution – to find cures for children with catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. The successful candidates will receive interdisciplinary and translational training at the interface of three major departments, Infectious Diseases, Chemical Biology & Therapeutics, and Structural Biology. Specific opportunities for training include, but are not limited to, target identification and validation, structure-based and computer-based drug design, high-throughput screening using conventional and biophysical approaches, pharmacokinetics, vaccine development and full microbiological assessment of new therapeutic candidates in vitro and in vivo. Formal training in skills that are required for successful future academic careers such as grant writing, problem solving and presentations will be available. Opportunities also exist for overseas research through the SJCRH International Outreach Program.

Our interactive research environment is optimal for inter-disciplinary, translational research, with opportunities to collaborate with investigators in other Departments, including Immunology, Cell & Molecular Biology, Developmental Neurobiology, Genetics, Tumor Cell Biology, Hematology, Oncology, Pathology and Pharmaceutical Sciences. All trainees will have access to state-of-the-art and well-staffed institutional core facilities that include proteomics, genomics, bioinformatics, cell imaging, protein production and molecular synthesis. SJCRH is a National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center and additionally receives substantial support through the fund-raising efforts of the American Lebanese Syrian Associated Charities (ALSAC).

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas, is one of the world's premier centers for the research and treatment of pediatric cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases. St. Jude is the first and only pediatric cancer center to be designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute. Children from all 50 states and from around the world have come through the doors of St. Jude for treatment, and thousands more around the world have benefited from the research conducted at St. Jude – research that is shared freely with the global medical community. St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatments that are not covered by insurance. No child is denied treatment because of a family's inability to pay.
