美国联合生物能源研究所生物化学博士后职位
The postdoc shall be responsible for developing plants with improved biomass composition by modifying expression of glycosyltransferases, nucleotide sugar transporters and other proteins involved in cell wall biosynthesis. The engineering will primarily be done with Arabidopsis. In addition to the main project, the postdoc is expected to contribute to identification of enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of polysaccharides and glycoproteins in plant cell walls and characterizing plants with mutations in the genes encoding these enzymes. Candidates for the position should have experience with biochemistry and molecular biology. Candidates should also have experience in one or more of the following areas and techniques: plant genetics, HPLC, characterization of complex carbohydrates, characterization of transporter proteins. The position involves collaboration with internal and external collaborators. The postdoc will work in the Feedstocks Division of the Joint BioEnergy Institute (JBEI) in Emeryville under supervision of Dr. Jenny Mortimer.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Transformation of Arabidopsis with gene constructs for targeted modification of cell wall composition
- Reverse genetics in Arabidopsis
- Heterologous expression of plant proteins
- Characterization of transgenic plants with modified cell wall composition
- Collect and analyze data and prepare results for publication in scientific journals and presentations at seminars
- Ensure efficient collaboration and coordination with internal and external collaborators
- Maintain an accurate and detailed scientific logbook of all experiments performed. Ensure that others could duplicate results.
Additional responsibilities:__
- Assist with the development of grant proposals.
- Assist PI with training and managing the workflow of technical staff and students.
- Participate in group meetings and seminars.
