Postdoctoral Research Assistantship in the Mathematics of Biological Tissues

Grade 7: £29,837- £36,661 p.a.

We invite applications from exceptionally talented postdoctoral researchers for a postdoctoral research assistantship in the mechanics of soft-tissues with special emphasis on the brain. This is a fixed-term position for 6 months and based in the Oxford Centre for Collaborative Applied Mathematics (OCCAM) part of the Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford. This position is available from 1 September 2014 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The successful applicant will be an outstanding researcher who will have already shown excellence in the field of mathematical modelling associated with the mechanics and computation of biological tissue, in particular the position will involve the development of new finite-element codes and will work under the supervision of Professor Alain Goriely.

Applicants will be expected to have a PhD in mathematics or a related discipline, show evidence of an outstanding record (for the stage of their career) of papers published in major international journals in one of the areas of computational or theoretical mechanics, applied mathematics and evidence of independence and outstanding ability in research.
