摘要:

The focus of our lab is to understand the function of the mRNA cap in gene expression. The mRNA cap recruits the enzymes and co-factors required for RNA processing and translation initiation. We have recently discovered several mechanisms by which the mRNA cap is regulated by oncogenes and signalling pathways, resulting in changes in the landscape of gene expression and cell proliferation. The enzymes which catalyse mRNA cap synthesis are emerging as integrators of cellular signals which govern cell physiology. Our challenge now is to understand the function of mRNA capping in vivo, with particular focus on the immune system and embryonic stem cells.

We are looking for a motivated postdoc to join us to investigate the function of the mRNA cap in vivo using primary cells from murine models. The project will involve genomic, transcriptomic and proteomic analyses of primary T cells and embryonic stem cells. Candidates for this position should have (or about to have) a PhD. A background in gene expression, transcriptomics, proteomics, bioinformatics and/or working with mice is an advantage. The postdoc will collaborate with Doreen Cantrell’s lab and others labs at the College of Life Sciences but will also be expected to work and research their project independently.

The position is available for 3 years.
