Three-year postdoc position in herd health management with focus on epidemiological methods and dairy cattle herds (ID 665419) : Tjele, Denmark
At the Department of Animal Science, Aarhus University a postdoc position is available starting 01/10 2014.
We seek a candidate with a strong background in dairy herd health management combined with strong skills in data handling and epidemiology. The preferred candidate has experience in analyzing health and production data from databases with routinely collected data from private herds. The main focus in the position is on 1) analyzing routinely collected clinical registrations for the purpose of dynamic monitoring of herd health and welfare; 2) development of EVOP protocols as management tools; and 3) developing methods for on-farm assessment of animal welfare. The chosen candidate is further expected to join and develop ongoing research within the research group in Epidemiology and Management. A major part of this research will be carried out within three Danish research projects and a large EU-FP7 project. The research activities are interdisciplinary and include collaboration with the cattle industry. The candidate is expected to take part in teaching and supervision of students at the BSc, MSc and PhD levels.
Qualifications
• Experience in data handling and epidemiology
• Experience in herd health management research
• Academic qualifications at PhD level in veterinary medicine, animal science, biology or related field
• Documentation of excellent skills within the research area
• Good skills in communication of research results internationally as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals
• Experience in supervising students and teaching at a high academic level will also be a merit

Place of employment and place of work
The place of employment is Aarhus University (AU) and the place of work is the Department of Animal Science, Science and Technology, Blichers Allé 20, DK-8830 Tjele. Teaching activities are primarily conducted at AU-Campus, 8000 Aarhus.

Science and Technology refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
