摘要:
The project is entitled “Universal T cell responses against pathogenic bacteria and protists”, and is financed by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO). While being a basic research project, the overall goal is to contribute to alternative approaches of vaccine development. Antigen presentation by the human CD1 molecules is the central focus of the project. The specific aims are to identify new lipid antigens from Trypanosoma, Brucella, Campylobacter, Staphylococcus, Salmonella, and Coxiella, identify and characterize the human T cells that respond to these lipids, analyze their T cell receptors, and determine their lineage and optimal conditions of stimulation. To get an idea of the kind of work that will be performed, please refer to: “A conserved human T cell population targets mycobacterial antigens presented by CD1b. Nat Immunol 2013 14(7):706-13.”. While performing research will be the main occupation, the candidate will be expected to assist with teaching. The experimental work will be performed at the Division of Immunology, Department of Infectious Diseases and Immunology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Utrecht University.
