瑞典卡罗林斯卡医学院生物化学博士后职位
Division
The Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics conducts multidisciplinary research in biomedicine and education within biochemistry and biophysics. Presently our department consists of 11 research divisions with a total of approximately 300 employees.
A position for a postdoctoral fellow is available in the laboratory of Dr. Jaakko Patrakka. The work will be done at the Division of Matrix Biology, Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics , as well as at a newly established Karolinska Institute (KI) / AstraZeneca (AZ) Integrated Cardio Metabolic Centre (ICMC), Stockholm, Sweden. ICMC represents a unique opportunity for academic researchers to collaborate with scientists from the pharmaceutical industry to make cutting edge science and discover the next generation of medicines.
Duties
The focus of the project is to explore the role of new podocyte-associated G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) in the normal renal ultrafiltration barrier and in diabetic nephropathy. The ultimate goal is to validate podocyte GPCRs as novel therapeutical targets and to develop new pharmaceutical compounds to treat diabetic nephropathy. We are using mice, zebrafish and cell culture as experimental models.
We are seeking enthusiastic applicants who have a thorough training in molecular and cell biology, as well as biochemistry. Previous experience with mouse work is an advantage. Candidates should have excellent laboratory and organizational skills, be keen to advance the project and have a proven publication record. The selected candidate will work as part of a team, in close collaboration with other postdocs and graduate students.
Entry requirements
Applicants must possess a PhD Degree (or be in the final stages of completion) in an appropriate scientific discipline. Initially, the project is planned to last two years with a possible extension.
A person is eligible for a position as postdoctoral research fellow if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc.
