POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN MICROGLIA AND NEURODEGENERATION
Our group is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated postdoctoral fellow to study the role of microglia, and microglia progenitors, in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. We use a novel method to eliminate all microglia from the CNS of mice, including transgenic mouse models, in order to understand the role that these inflammatory cells play in the disease process. This position requires experience with transgenic mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease, as well as experience with behavioral/cognitive testing, biochemistry and immunohistochemistry techniques. Direct expertise in microglia/neuroinflammation is also desired. Our laboratory is located at the University of California, Irvine, and is part of a thriving community of neurodegeneration researchers.
