美国路易斯安那州立大学神经系统学博士后招聘
Postdoctoral researcher in neuroscience : Shreveport, LA, United States
Position available for a recent graduate with interest in the cardiac and respiratory effects of ion channel mutations in epilepsy. The most common cause of mortality in epilepsy is sudden unexpected death (SUDEP). Although the exact causes of SUDEP remain unknown, seizures are thought to somehow initiate lethal cardiac and/or respiratory dysfunction. We are trying to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying SUDEP by examining mouse genetic epilepsy models using a combination of molecular approaches (immunohistochemistry, RT-PCR, western blot), in vivo physiological recordings (electroencephalography, electrocardiography, plethysmography), and in vitro brain slice and cardiomyocyte recordings.
Qualified applicants should have a Ph.D, M.D. Ph.D, or equivalent, and be highly motivated with a strong background in molecular biology (including protein and RNA work) and/or brain slice or cardiomyocyte electrophysiology. Preferred applicants will have experience working with mouse transgenic mutants, especially cre-lox conditional expression models.
To apply for this position, please submit your CV and a cover letter describing your research experience, interest and goals, along with three references to Dr. Edward Glasscock at aglas1@lsuhsc.edu
