Postdoctoral Research Scientist
Starting Salary up to £30,000 per annum
The Babraham Institute is a charity which is world renowned for its research in life sciences to enhance lives and improve wellbeing.
We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist to work on a CRUK funded project in the Florey lab. We are investigating the molecular mechanisms which regulate cell engulfment processes through a recently described non-canonical autophagy pathway, and exploring its function in tumour biology (Florey et al., 2011, Nat Cell Bio) (Florey et al., 2012 Trends Cell Biol). This project will utilise state-of the-art live-cell imaging, combined with biochemical, cell biological and proteomic techniques, to study tissue culture models of phagocytosis and a novel live-cell engulfment process termed “entosis”.
The successful applicant will have a PhD in cell biology, biochemistry or a related biological discipline. Experience in the autophagy field and/or widefield/confocal microscopy would be desirable. Applicants must have experience in at least two of the following – Generation and use of lenti and retrovirus; Experience in live cell imaging, confocal and widefield microscopy; Epithelial and/or macrophage cell culture; Large scale Immunoprecipitation for mass spectrometry analysis and RNAi knock-downs.
This position is available immediately for 2 years in the first instance with the possibility of extension.
