Post-doctoral/Research Associate’s position is immediately available in a NIH funded study for finding susceptibility loci for type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Major foci involve large scale genome-wide association studies, high-throughput sequencing, gene expression profiling to elucidate signature tags associated with disease susceptibility, and follow-up functional studies. Qualifications include but not limited to a degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genetic Epidemiology or related fields. Applicants with expertise in molecular biology, genetics or cell functional studies including, in vitro transfection, cloning, reporter constructs, immuno-blotting, mobility-shift assay, and site-directed mutagenesis are particularly encouraged to apply. Basic understanding of bioinformatics, data mining skills will be preferred. Highly motivated individuals with intense interest in science and enthusiasm to understand the genetic complexities of metabolic diseases are invited to apply. Duties include high-throughput sample preparation, SNP genotyping, microarrays, functional assays, data analysis, and manuscript preparation while paying strict attention to details. Starting salary will be commensurate with training and experience.
