Postdoctoral Fellowship in Organic Synthesis and Medicinal Chemistry

We seek a highly motivated individual to join an EU-funded research project within laboratories of Organic Synthesis and Medicinal Chemistry that involves:
• synthesis of natural product-inspired, structurally complex molecules with targeted biological activity
• formulation and development of essential chemical methodology
• rational design and identification of novel enzyme activators/inhibitors affecting key cell-signalling pathways

Qualification: Ph.D. in organic chemistry with solid prior experience in organic synthesis; additional experience in medicinal chemistry advantageous; history of excellent research productivity, ability to design and execute synthesis of organic compounds of medium-to-high complexity.

Length of the fellowship: 24 months Approximate salary: 2 000 EUR/month

Closely interacting Laboratory of Medicinal Chemistry, headed by Dr. Kamil Paruch, and Laboratory of Organic Synthesis, headed by Dr. Jakub Švenda, host a dynamic and productive research groups at Masaryk University and provide a highly interactive research environment with state-of-the-art facilities. The Laboratory of Medicinal Chemistry is part of a unique interdisciplinary research platform – Center of Biomolecular and Cellular Engineering (CBCE), which represents one of the research platforms of International Clinical Research Centre (ICRC). ICRC is a joint research centre of St. Anne´s University Hospital in Brno and Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota (USA) and links together pre-clinical basic research (e.g. in stem cell biology, cancer biology etc.) with clinical research (for more info see http://www.fnusa-icrc.org/en/). The CBCE platform focuses on research of biologically active small molecules and engineered proteins, which currently represent the most promising tools for influencing biological processes such as genomic cell stability, cell growth, cell differentiation, cell reprogramming to pluripotency, cell death, and cell survival.

Deadline for applications: July 30, 2014

Start date: January 2015

How to apply: Please send a cover letter, a concise summary of previous research activities and the curriculum vitae including publication list to: paruch@chemi.muni.cz and svenda@chemi.muni.cz

Applications will be considered in two stages. The first stage will focus on the excellence of candidates. Those shortlisted will be invited to send two letters of recommendation and subsequently will be interviewed。
