Advanced analysis of Magnetic Resonance Images to provide a novel assessment of the acutely injured myocardium.

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research assistant to work in a novel programme of research in the field of analysis of cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) images and computational modelling in patients with myocardial infarction. Specifically, the aim of this proposal is to establish novel indices characterising the acutely ischemically damaged myocardium, and to investigate their impact on computational models of the heart.

You will hold a PhD qualification in physics or engineering sciences (such as biomedical engineering or image processing), have a track record of scientific achievement and publication, expertise in techniques such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging and have a strong mathematical and/or computational background. You will need to be well organised, with excellent communication skills and capable of working in an interdisciplinary team as well as independently.

This full-time appointment is available from 1 June 2014. The project is funded by the British Heart Foundation and is fixed-term for 4 years. The post will be working under the supervision of Dr Erica Dall’Armellina and is based at the Oxford Acute Vascular Imaging Centre, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.

Applications for this vacancy are to be made online; you will be required to upload a supporting statement and a copy of your CV as part of your online application. This post could be suitable for a postdoc early in their career.
