PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION:

 

This position is responsible for exploratory science to expand the company’s technology platform in oncology immunotherapy. Research activities will be focused towards advancing knowledge and understanding in the field of oncology immunotherapy as well as create the opportunities to publish work to advance the Company’s position is this space.

 

MAJOR DUTIES OF POSITION:

 

• Independently design and execute experiments for drug discovery programs in oncology immunotherapy.
• Develop and apply advanced methodologies including cell isolation, DC/T co-culture, flow cytometry, and support mechanism of action studies.
• Analyze experimental data, prepare and submit detailed technical reports, and present results at team meetings.
• Collaborate with other research and development departments, and actively support testing of vaccine candidates at various stages of development.
• Stay current on state-of-the-art scientific principles, theories, and applications in given discipline through review of current literature, journals, and publications. Contribute to publications and/or patents.
• Document all scientific work in lab notebooks and follow established Dynavax standard operating procedures on data documentation and notebooks.
• Maintain a work environment focused on quality and that fosters learning, respect, open communication, collaboration, integration, and teamwork.
• Other duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

 

• Ph.D. in immunology or related field with minimum of 0-2 years’ experience in oncology and/or immunotherapy.
• Knowledge of cellular and molecular immunology.
• Must possess several years of technical expertise in key immunological techniques including ELISPOT, cellular immunology, cell-based assays, immunofluorescent microscopy, and flow cytometry.
• Must possess critical thinking and proven problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with external collaborators, such as partner companies or external laboratories desirable.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate across functional lines.
• Strong organizational and planning skills; must be able to work independently as well as in a team and collaborative environment.

POSITION LEVEL:

 

This position will use professional concepts and the company’s policies and procedures to solve a variety of problems. A Post Doc fellow will have demonstrated technical abilities (or the potential too) proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought and will work on problems of moderate to diverse scope in which analysis of situation or data requires a review of identifiable factors. This level position will exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine action.

 

The Post-doctoral fellow will have a PhD in the appropriate scientific discipline. Depending on the position level/experience, this position will receive general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments.
