Ocular Biology and Imaging Research:
Requirements:
We are looking for a highly self-motivated and creative individual with a Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. degree in biological sciences. Previous experience in ocular biology and ophthalmology is heavily preferred.
Our laboratory has several exciting and advanced avenues of investigations in non-invasive molecularly targeting imaging modalities for aging retinal diseases and a program focused on dissecting the role of epigenetic regulation of inflammation and cell death in photoreceptors and retinal pigment epithelium. Depending on project assignment, the candidate will gain critical skills in novel techniques in multi-modal small animal imaging, custom fluorophore bio-conjugate engineering, mass spectrometry based proteomics, massively parallel sequencing, bioinformatics pipelines, analyses to assess histone binding and modifications in genomic DNA, and numerous other advanced molecular biology techniques. Candidates must be willing and comfortable working with rodent models.
Two years of eligibility and commitment as postdoctoral scholar is required. Significant experience will be offered in the design and interpretation of experiments as well as grantsmanship to prepare the candidate for a successful independent career as a principal investigator in the biomedical sciences. Preference will be given to those with experience in ocular biology specifically in the posterior segment, vascular biology, vision, neuroscience or aging research. Salary will be based on University guidelines for postdoctoral fellows, and will be commensurate with experience.
Interested applicants please submit CV, brief statement of interest and career goals, contact information and three references. In the CV, please list your technical expertise, especially in animal dissection and surgeries, optical coherence tomography, electrophysiology, histology/imaging/microscopy, mass spectrometry, massively parallel sequencing, bio-informatics, or other advanced techniques in molecular biology.
