We wish to appoint a Research Associate to work with the Principal Investigator, Dr Weyman at the University of Bath, in association with the project lead Prof Peter Nolan (Dept of Economics, University of Leicester) and Hilary Metcalf (National Institute for Economic and Social Research) and their respective teams to deliver Medical Research Council Funded research into: ‘Extending Working Lives in the NHS: Opportunities, Challenges and Prospects’.
The research will investigate the management of employment change in the National Health Service following abolition of the mandatory retirement age and aligned changes in State and public sector pension provision.
The research embodies a combined method approach. However, the emphasis for this post will be on the gathering and analysis of qualitative evidence.
You will have a PhD in applied psychology, sociology, management science or other relevant social science discipline, with post-doctoral research experience in conducting interviews and group elicitation techniques, e.g. focus groups and/or Delphi method and qualitative data analysis, statistical analysis involving large data sets and technical report writing and publication in peer reviewed journals
Familiarity with mental models approaches, experience in data gathering in large complex organisations and working with or within the NHS would be an advantage.
This post is fixed-term for 36 months commencing May 2014 .
