Department of Molecular Biology of the University of Salzburg: per October 1, 2014, a postdoctoral researcher position is available in the Christian Doppler Laboratory for Biosimilar Characterization at the University of Salzburg. The laboratory is a collaboration of five academic research groups and two industrial partners with a focus on protein characterization. The candidate will set up experimental plans to systematically organize workflows, data collection and data storage, and interact with programmers of industrial collaborators to install and implement new software components, program suitable scripts and algorithms aiding data conversion and interpretation according to regulations of Good Manufacturing Practice. Major Accountabilities • Data handling, setting up and implementing algorithms and workflows. • Development and/or implementation of workflows, pipelines, platforms, and tools to process, manage and make available data within the Christian Doppler Laboratory. • High-throughput data analysis consultation and training for scientists and research assistants of the Christian Doppler Laboratory. Required Experience and Skills: • Ph.D. (or equivalent experience) in bioinformatics, computer science or a related area with a strong affinity for proteomic data management and analysis. • Excellent programming skills (R, C++ and/or Java required; Python desirable). • Strong interest and basic background in proteomics and protein characterization. • Creative, pragmatic, autonomous, and user and result oriented approach to biological data management and analysis. • Good and open communicator (in English). • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills and a team player. Electronic applications including curriculum vitae, summary of the PhD thesis, list of publications (if applicable), and a 1-2 page motivation letter should be submitted, preferentially in electronic form, before May 31 to Prof. Dr. Christian Huber, Department of Molecular Biology, Hellbrunner Straße 34, 5020 Salzburg, Austria, c.huber@sbg.ac.at. Information about the Christian Doppler Laboratory can be found at http://www.uni-salzburg.at/index.php?id=63471&MP=77-44794&L=1.
