University of Oxford -Department of Physics
Clarendon Lab, Parks Road, Oxford
Grade 7: £29,837 - £36,661 p.a.
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Ultrafast Optical Metrology in the group of Professor I A Walmsley, in collaboration with Professor S Hooker. This project will tackle the development of coherent diffractive imaging, a technique suitable for the nanometric objects and with a time resolution in the few-femtosecond regime. The successful applicant will carry out experimental activities, including the design and the daily operation of the experiment. They will be in charge of direct supervision of the students, and are expected to participate in funding applications and reporting.
The post is available initially for a fixed-term duration of 2 years, with the possibility of extension for 2 years.
Applicants should possess or be very close to obtaining a doctorate in physics or a related field and ideally a strong background in ultrafast optics. Previous experience in the field of high-harmonics generation will be an advantage. Candidates are expected to demonstrate autonomy and commitment to excellent research.
The postholder will have the opportunity to teach.
Only applications received before 12.00 midday on 9 April 2014 can be considered. You will be required to upload a brief statement of research interests, CV and details of two referees as part of your online application.
Closing Date: 09-APR-14
