The laboratory of David Nauen in Neuropathology at Johns Hopkins seeks a talented and motivated scientist/engineer for postdoctoral fellowship. The objective is training for a productive career as an independent researcher through development of a system for construction of brain microcircuits. Due to funder policies the position is for US Citizens only. Desired skills/attributes are some combination of the following:
a) understanding of/ability to learn microfluidics sufficient to construct a system for single-file transport of cells from suspension;
b) understanding of/ability to learn optics sufficient for construction of laser/photomultiplier tube system for optical characterization of cells;
c) ability to (learn to) code field-programmable gate array to allow rapid classification of cells;
d) understanding of/ability to learn biomaterials sufficient to construct a porous scaffold for cushioning droplets on impact to maximize cell survival;
e) experience with primary neural stem cell culture or induced pluripotent stem cell culture
