The Astex Sustaining Innovation Postdoctoral research program has a track record of performing cutting-edge research and development and is a key element of our excellent scientific culture. During your SI Postdoc project you will be exposed to a multi-disciplinary pharma environment. You’ll benefit from our internal training seminars that will enhance your understanding of the drug discovery process. As part of your career development, you will have the opportunity to present your work within the company and at external meetings and you’ll be expected to publish your findings in high-impact journals.
As a member of the Translational Biology department, the successful candidate will establish and apply CRISPR tiling technologies to identify protein domains that are critical for cell viability and acquired resistance to signal transduction inhibitors. In order to further understand the biology of cancer pathways, the candidate will perform additional validation studies using a range of cell and molecular biology techniques.
Candidate Requirements
•A PhD in a biological science and a strong publication record
•Direct experience and technical expertise using CRISPR
•Demonstrable proficiency in a range of cell and molecular biology techniques including transient and stable genetic manipulation of cells
•The ability to contribute within highly multidisciplinary teams and work in a highly collaborative manner.
