丹麦哥本哈根大学博士后职位
Department of Biology, Faculty of Science at University of Copenhagen is offering a two years position, with the possibility of extension, as postdoc in Biochemistry and Biophysics starting April 1st 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Description of the scientific environment
The postdoc will join an ongoing collaboration between prof. Karen Skriver’s group, which is part of the Protein Biology Group, and prof. Birthe B. Kragelund’s group, which is part of the Structural Biology and NMR Laboratory (SBiNLab), Department of Biology, University of Copenhagen (https://www1.bio.ku.dk/english/research/bms/research/sbinlab/. Together the two groups provide a strong, international environment for research in the function, structure and dynamics of proteins with emphasis on intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs). The research in the two laboratories is highly interdisciplinary ranging from in vivo studies over applied bioinformatics to advanced biophysics. The laboratories are part of the Linderstrøm-Lang Centre for Protein Science and the Integrative Structural Biology at the University of Copenhagen (ISBUC) (www.isbuc.ku.dk). For further information contact Karen Skriver (kskriver@bio.ku.dk) or Birthe B. Kragelund (bbk@bio.ku.dk).
Research Project
The project will use biochemistry and biophysics to improve the understanding of the molecular properties and mechanisms of the αα-hubs (Bugge et al. 2018, Structure; O’Shea et al, J. Biol. Chem. 2017), which are regulators of transcriptional networks and include the RST, PAH, TAFH and NCBD domains. The domains are central nodes in large interactomes and implicated in plants stress regulation and a number of human diseases. Specifically, the focus will be on investigations of the structure, topology and dynamics of the αα-hubs and decomposition of ligand binding specificity, competition and mechanisms, thus deriving properties that provide fidelity in signaling events.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must have a PhD degree and a strong background in protein science, biochemistry, or biophysics and preferentially also in structural biology. Prior experience with protein production for biophysical and structural analysis is a requirement. It is a strong advantage to have documented experience with protein NMR spectroscopy and/or X-ray crystallography and/or thermodynamic and kinetic analysis of proteins. Prior work on intrinsically disordered proteins and good English writing competence is also advantageous. Strong team work capabilities are needed.
The University wishes our staff to reflect the diversity of society and thus welcomes applications from all qualified candidates regardless of personal background.
Procedures
After the expiry of the deadline for applications, the authorized recruitment manager selects applicants for assessment on the advice of the Interview Committee.
You can read about the recruitment process at http://employment.ku.dk/faculty/recruitment-process/.
Terms of employment
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.
Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.
The starting salary is currently up to DKK 426.625 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 72.952). Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
