The International Brain Laboratory (IBL, www.internationalbrainlab.com) is seeking two highly motivated postdoctoral Research Associates to work under the joint supervision of Profs. Michael Häusser and Matteo Carandini at University College London. The IBL aims to establish the neural basis of decision-making. To this end, the IBL will develop a standardized mouse decision-making behavior, make coordinated measurements of neural activity across the mouse brain, and use theory and analysis to uncover the underlying neural computations.
The Research Associates will help define and standardize the behavioral task, refine the training of mice, measure behavioral performance, and record the activity of large populations of neurons during behavior using Neuropixels probes and two-photon imaging. The successful candidates will be able to collaborate with all members of the IBL located in 21 labs across 5 countries. (For more information about the advantages of postdoctoral research at IBL, see www.internationalbrainlab.com/postdocs/.)
The positions are funded for two years in the first instance.
Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent in neuroscience, engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or a similar field, and an ability to work in a diverse group including computational and experimental neurobiologists. Extensive experience with in vivo electrophysiology, imaging, surgery, and behavioral training is highly desirable. Essential requirements are experience with analyzing data in MATLAB (or Python), and experience of writing scientific manuscripts as evidenced by a solid record of publications.
