"Characterization of mitochondrial Ca2+ influx mechanisms in cardiac muscle cells"

My lab is seeking one postdoctoral fellow with interests in working on anNIH funded project entitled “Ca2+ and ROS Crosstalk Signaling in Cardiac Mitochondria” (NIH 2R01HL093671). The central focus of the project deals with the posttranslational modification of mitochondrial Ca2+ uniporter under adrenergic receptor activations (PMID: 24800979). Multidisciplinary techniques such as gene transfer, Western blot, and confocal imaging are applied to probe mitochondrial function at the levels of isolated mitochondria, single live cells, tissues, and in vivo preparations.

The applicant must have expertise in Ca2+ imaging, confocal microscopy, cellular and molecular biology, and mitochondrial research. Candidates should have strong interpersonal skills, proficient in oral and written English, and a proven ambition to develop into independent Principal Investigators. My laboratory has an excellent track record in training the next generation of researchers with numerous former trainees obtained faculty positions in research universities in US and abroad.

My lab is located at the Center for Translational Medicine in the Thomas Jefferson University. The lab is in contiguous to the laboratories in the Center for Mitochondrial Imaging Research and Diagnostics. This position provides an excellent opportunity to grow scientifically and work with a dynamic group of investigators studying important and exciting aspects of mitochondrial physiology and pathogenesis.
