丹麦奥胡思大学招聘微观进化数学建模方向博士后
Aarhus University, Science and Technology, Department of Agroecology in Flakkebjerg, invites applications for a two-years' postdoctoral position, starting 1 December 2015, or as soon as possible.
The research team
The successful candidate will be part of an international team working on the project Evolution-proof pest management (www.agro.au.dk/forskning/projekter/evoppm) funded by the Danish Council for Strategic Research. The team consists of six researchers, two post docs, three PhD students and technicians.
Research area
Future pest management can benefit from integration of ecological and evolutionary principles to predict long-term responses of pest populations to changing pest management, agricultural environment and climate. This project will provide the biological basis for more evolutionary-enlightened pest management, in which management principles are supported by evolutionary biology. The research objective of the postdoc will be to develop mathematical/simulation models that incorporate processes of genetics, physiology, toxicology and population dynamics, with the aim to predict the dynamics of pesticide resistance. Data on pest management and fitness parameters, provided by other tasks of the project, will guide and inform model development. The aim is to devise strategies to prevent the evolution of pesticide resistance. The emphasis will be on generic approaches which let common processes across taxa be described by common concepts and model formulations.
Qualifications and specific competences
We seek an outgoing person with research experience in the area of mathematical modelling in ecology. The fellowship is open for persons who have completed a PhD in Biology, Agronomy, Mathematics or related areas. Documented expertise with modelling is required. The successful candidate must have good collaborative skills.
Place of Employment and Place of Work
The place of employment is Aarhus University, and the place of work is Science and Technology, Forsøgsvej 1, DK-4200 Slagelse, Denmark.
