Postdoc Position in Development of Novel Electrode Materials for Mg- and AI-ion Batteries

Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy, University of Southern Denmark invites applications for a nine months postdoctoral position. The position is available starting as soon as possible.

The project focuses on developing novel cathode materials for rechargeable Mg- and/or Al-ion batteries and exploring how the electrolyte composition affects the ion intercalation into electrode materials of various structure types.

The project includes:

• Preparation of novel cathode materials using wet and solid state inorganic synthesis.
• Material characterization through powder X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy (SEM, TEM) and Raman spectroscopy
• Battery fabrication
• Test of electrochemical performance and elucidation of transport properties

The candidate should have a good knowledge of inorganic chemistry, powder diffraction and battery related electro-chemistry, hereunder battery assembly, galvanostatic battery cycling, cyclic voltammetry and impedance spectroscopy. Experience with electron microscopy will be an advantage.
