摘要:

Postdoctoral Research Associate in Dislocation Dynamics Simulations

Job Description

A postdoctoral research associate position is immediately available in the Department of Nuclear Engineering at the North Carolina State University. We are seeking a candidate with expertise (at the doctoral level) in dislocation dynamics simulations to work on a project funded through the U.S. Department of Energy. The goal of the project is to develop a mechanistic understanding of creep and creep/fatigue behavior in alloy steels. The researcher will work closely with well-known experts in the academia and national laboratories (ORNL/ANL), and will have ample opportunities to mentor graduate students at NC State University.

A Ph.D. in materials science/physics/engineering is needed along with an enthusiasm for working effectively in a multidisciplinary team. The position is initially for two years with the possibility of extension to three years. The job responsibilities include conducting original research in dislocation dynamics simulations, perform detailed analysis, collaborate with experimental groups (in-situ TEM and in-situ XRD), interpret experimental data, and develop mechanistic models based on simulations and experiments. Experience in electron microscopy and/or atomistic simulations will be a plus.

NC State University offers an attractive salary, and a comprehensive benefits package. The Research Triangle Park (RTP) area, which includes three renowned universities (UNC-Chapel Hill, Duke University and NC State University), is a major research and technology hub that is home to more than 170 companies. The Triangle area is regularly featured in several national publications, and is considered to be a top choice for work and leisure.
