Postdoctoral Fellowship : Boston, MA, United States

Postdoctoral Fellowship – Boston University School of Medicine

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the laboratory of Dr. Richard D. Wainford at The Boston University School of Medicine, Department of Pharmacology and The Whitaker Cardiovascular Institute. For applicants meeting the criteria (permanent residents or US citizens) the option to apply for a post-doctoral research fellowship that is immediately available on an NIH funded T32 training grant focused on providing multi-disciplinary multi-modality training in cardiovascular biology exists. Current projects within the Wainford laboratory are focused on 1) elucidating the mechanisms facilitating integration of the central nervous system and the kidney in long-term blood pressure regulation and 2) understanding how impairments in these mechanisms result in the development of hypertension. We have a specific emphasis on brain G-protein coupled receptor signaling, mechanisms of sodium homeostasis, the salt-sensitivity of blood pressure and the autonomic nervous system. A wide range of multidisciplinary approaches in rodent models are used including whole animal cardiovascular physiology, genetic/molecular neuroscience strategies, brain microinjection and molecular biology techniques. Highly motivated individuals with a Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant discipline and demonstrated research productivity are encouraged to apply. Interested applicants should send a cover letter detailing their research interests and career goals, CV, and names and contact information of 3 references to Dr. Richard D. Wainford (rwainf@bu.edu).
