Postdoctoral Position: Fluorescence Assays & Physical Chemistry : Stanford, CA, United States

A position is available in the Radiation Biophysics Lab (http://pratxlab.stanford.edu) at Stanford University, part of the division of Medical Physics in the department of Radiation Oncology. Our goal is to develop the next generation of analytical tools for cancer research and care. We create entirely new technologies that address significant needs in the lab or the clinic. The methods we have developed so far can interrogate the behavior of single cancer cells, visualize signatures of disease in vivo, and verify the delivery radiation treatments. We employ a variety of physical and engineering approaches to achieve that goal, including advanced optics, sensing, computing, and microfabrication. We work closely with the Molecular Imaging Program at Stanford (http://mips.stanford.edu) and the Bio-X program (http://biox.stanford.edu).

We are looking for a highly motivated and creative individual, with an interest in developing new fluorescent assays. Applicants should have a doctoral degree in bioengineering, physical chemistry, biophysics, or related field, and no more than two years of postdoctoral experience. The ideal candidate shall have a track record of research accomplishments in his/her field, excellent scientific communication skills, and demonstrated experience with one or more of the following techniques: fluorescence spectroscopy, fluorescence assay development, microfluidics, flow cytometry, data acquisition, data analysis, cell culture, and microscopy.

The successful candidate will lead a project aiming to develop a new fluorescent assay for flow cytometry. To apply, please visit http://pratxlab.stanford.edu/jobs.html and submit a CV, the names of two references and a short statement of research interests. Salary ranges from $44,310 to $53,906, commensurate with experience. The earliest start date is June 1st 2015. Initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal.

Stanford University offers many opportunities to engage in cutting-edge research and is the ideal training grounds for postdocs who want to further develop their skills in pursuit of a career in academia or industry. Stanford University is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to increasing diversity. We welcome applications from women and members of minority groups, as well as others who would bring additional dimensions to the university's research and teaching missions….
