Description
Swedish Institute of Space Physics, Kiruna, Sweden, is seeking candidates for a Postdoctoral Position in Space Physics – Mars Express Data Analysis. The Solar System Physics and Space Technology research programme at the Swedish Institute of Space Physics (IRF) in Kiruna invites applications for a Postdoctoral position in Space Physics, related to the ESA Mars Express mission to Mars. The programme leads the ASPERA-3 plasma experiment on Mars Express. Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position for studies of the induced magnetosphere of Mars and its interaction with the solar wind using particle data. The work mainly concerns data from the ASPERA-3 Ion Mass Analyzer (IMA). Use of data and collaboration with NASA's MAVEN mission is planned. A computer model of the Mars-Solar wind interaction is also available. Previous work on atmosphere-solar wind interaction is a merit. Candidates should have completed a PhD during 2012 or later. However, if the candidate has an older degree and wants to refer to special circumstances, such as parental leave, this should be clearly stated. Candidates planning to obtain their PhD degree no later than June 2015 can also apply. The candidate should not currently be an active researcher at IRF in Kiruna. The position is placed in Kiruna and provides salary for 2.5 years, funded by the Swedish National Space Board.
