Tumour-host interactions in Drosophila
Dr. Marcos Vidal
Cancer Research UK Beatson Institute in Glasgow is one of Europe's leading cancer research centres. It supports cutting edge research into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development. The Institute provides an outstanding research environment, underpinned by state-of-the-art core services and advanced technologies with special emphasis on imaging, metabolomics and in vivo models.
The interactions between tumour and the host tissues, both locally and systemically, are still poorly understood. You will join a team carrying out research to understand how tumour associated inflammation promotes tumour malignancy or tumour death in different genetics contexts. The research will analyse the role of the genetic background and cell polarity in tumour progression. The effects of tumour development will be assessed both in the tumour microenvironment and in peripheral tissues. You will use Drosophila genetics and a combination of imaging and biochemical techniques.
A relevant PhD is essential. Experience in Drosophila genetics and/or immunology would be an advantage.
Applications with CV and names of three referees should be sent to Dr Marcos Vidal, CR-UK Beatson Institute, Garscube Estate, Switchback Road, Bearsden, Glasgow, G61 1BD or by e-mail to m.vidal@beatson.gla.ac.uk
