Job Description
Job Duties and Tasks for Staff Epidemiologist (Anesthesiology Institute)
Duties include but are not limited to:
• Providing advice on research topics, study designs and conduct, and statistical techniques
• Providing advice with regard to production and submission of applications for funding
• Working closely with principle investigators and study personnel on activities related to initiation of studies, monitoring of participant enrollment and safety, coordination of meetings, presentation of results, and pertinent interim reports
• Designing and conducting independent epidemiology and health services research
• Obtaining funding as a Principle Investigator through competitive grant processes
• Publishing research results in peer-review journals and presenting at conferences
• Teaching, including lectures on epidemiology, trial design, sources of error, and biostatistics
Education:
• Ph.D. in epidemiology.
• Experience with clinical trials and analysis of biomedical cohort data
• Experience in obtaining and understanding data related to health outcome and economics
• Expertise in design, management, and conduct of clinical research
• Teaching experience
Desired qualifications:
• Excellent technical and scientific writing skills
• Problem solving and ability to manage multiple projects
• Ability to work with a high degree of independence, as well as working as part of a team
