摘要:
Postdoctoral Fellow - Cryo Electron Microscopy of the Nucleocytoplasmic Transport System : Heidelberg, Germany

The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the highest ranked scientific research organisations in the world. The Headquarters Laboratory is located in Heidelberg (Germany), with additional sites in Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Hinxton (UK) and Monterotondo (Italy).

An ERC-funded postdoc position is available in the laboratory of Martin Beck at the Structural and Computational Biology Unit. The overall aim of the Beck group is to elucidate the structure, function and assembly of very large protein complexes using integrated structure determination approaches.

The successful candidate will investigate the structure of intact nuclear pores and isolated subcomplexes using subtomogram averaging or single particle cryo electron microscopy, respectively (please see Bui et al., Cell 2013). He/She will work in an interdisciplinary team of researchers that holds expertise in complementary techniques such as cross-linking mass spectrometry and structural modeling. EMBL’s electron microscopy facility in Heidelberg is equipped with several high-end cryo electron microscopes including a Titan Krios with direct electron detector.

Qualifications and Experience
We are looking for candidates who hold a Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, engineering or related fields. The ideal candidate will have a strong publication record and research experience in single particle cryo electron microscopy or cryo electron tomography. Additional experience in at least one of the following areas will be an advantage but is not strictly required: mammalian cell culture, subcellular fractionation, protein chemistry or nucleocytoplasmic transport. Good communication skills and knowledge of English are essential….
