The lab is recruiting an outstanding postdoctoral fellow highly versed in molecular biology techniques, that can be used for lineage tracing as well as inducible knockout or overexpression of genes related to stem-ness or differentiation. Ideally the candidate also has experience with modern methods of genome editing of human stem cells. The successful candidate will be part of a team developing optimized methods for neural or hepatocyte differentiation from pluripotent stem cells suitable for disease modeling, or drug screens.

KULeuven, being the 6th European university in the 2008 Leiden ranking has a rich tradition of learning and research for almost six centuries. European surveys rank KULeuven among the top European universities in terms of output: 530 PhD degrees in 2007-2008 (151 for foreign PhD students), over 10,800 international peer-reviewed publications (2005-2007), >80 spin-off companies are created and the total patent portfolio comprises around 280 patents, supported by KULeuven Research & Development, one of the oldest and most renowned TTOs in Europe. The KULeuven Stem Cell Institute was founded in 2006 with as goals to basic pluripotent and multipotent stem cell research and assess stem cell biology in several disease entities, including hematopoiesis, vascular, musculoskeletal, neurologic and liver disorders.
