英国赫瑞瓦特大学无机合成化学博士后职位
Applications are invited for a Post-Doctoral Research Assistant position for 24 months to work in the group of Prof. A. J. Welch on a new project, funded by The Leverhulme Trust, in heteroborane chemistry. The research will involve the deliberate synthesis of “non-Wadian” heteroboranes and their complete characterisation and further study. Extensive use will be made of Schlenk- and vacuum-line techniques for synthesis, and mass spectrometry, multinuclear NMR spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction for characterisation.
For this position a PhD/DPhil in synthetic inorganic chemistry is required, together with experience of handling air-sensitive compounds, a good working knowledge of NMR spectroscopy and/or X-ray diffraction, and a successful record of publication. The successful applicant will be expected to play a partial supervisory role to a PhD student also engaged on the project and share (together with an existing postdoc) the day-to-day supervision of postgraduate and undergraduate project students in the heteroborane group. Therefore excellent communication and team-working skills are highly desirable.
The position is available from 1st September 2014 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Applications are particularly welcome from women and black and minority ethnic candidates, who are under-represented in academic posts at Heriot-Watt
