The faculty mentor for this position will be Dr.YING KONG. A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available immediately in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Biochemistry at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center. We are looking for a highly motivated, recently graduated PhD in Microbiology or related area to study bacteria-host interactions and bacterial pathogenesis. Currently, the focus of the lab is to investigate Mycobacterium tuberculosis pathogenesis. Salary will be commensurate with relevant experience and based on the prevailing wage for postdoctoral research trainees set by the U.S. Department of Labor. Qualifications: • A PhD in Microbiology or related area • Strong background and experience in microbiology, molecular biology and cell biology, such as recombinant DNA techniques (cloning, mutagenesis, etc), RT-PCR, DNA and RNA sequencing, and maintaining and infecting cells. • Strong work ethic, good English communication skills and previous publications in peer-reviewed journals. • Experience with M. tuberculosis and working in BSL-3 laboratory. • Experience with bacterial phage/virus. Salary will be commensurate with relevant experience and based on the prevailing wage for postdoctoral research trainees set by the U.S. Department of Labor.
