Position and Requirements
We are in the process of starting a new chair of Compiler Construction with the long-term vision of shaping the way how future electronic systems are to be programmed. Highly heterogeneous systems in the post-CMOS era may require a radically new approach for programming, reshaping today’s HW and SW stacks. In this context, we are looking for a highly motivated PhD Student or Postdoc to study programming and compiler techniques for these kinds of widely heterogeneous systems. The Student or Postdoc will work closely with researchers working on flexible hardware, specialised microkernels and high-level application specifications.
We aim at attracting the best talent in the respective research fields and expect the following: an outstanding university master’s/ diploma degree (or equivalent) or a completed PhD (or equivalent) in computer science, electrical engineering or a relevant area; research experience, preferably in the fields of compilers (e.g., LLVM), optimisation or domain-specific languages; sound knowledge in C/C++ software development and processor architecture; knowledge in electronic system level design is beneficial; an independent, target- and solution-driven work attitude; inter- and multidisciplinary thinking; strong motivation and interest to join one of the most ambitious interdisciplinary research clusters; an integrative and cooperative personality with excellent communication and social skills; fluency in English – written and oral.
What we offer
You will join a team of enthusiastic scientists who creatively pursue their individual research agenda inspired by the cluster’s innovative approach and support. Your PhD or Postdoc research will be fostered by the cfaed philosophy to promote young researchers which includes: access to state of the art research of leading academic institutes; individual supervision by a Thesis Advisory Committee (for PhD Students); possibility to earn (seed) grants of up to € 10.000; promotion of gender equality and family-friendly work environment.
Applications from women are particularly welcome. The same applies to people with disabilities.
