摘要:

Postdoctoral studies (scholarship) in human Hedgehog signaling pathway
Department of Biosciences and Nutrition, Toftgård and Jovine laboratories

The Department of Biosciences and Nutrition performs research and education in areas of medical science including molecular endocrinology, cancer biology, functional genomics, systems biology, epigenetics, structural biochemistry, cellular virology, and nutrition. The department offers an international study and working environment, including around 300 scientists, students, administrative and technical personnel.
Division
The Toftgård and Jovine laboratories at the department of Biosciences and Nutrition are parts of the Center for Innovative Medicine at Karolinska Institutet.

Duties
As part of a long-term collaboration between the laboratories of Rune Toftgård and Luca Jovine at the Department of Biosciences and Nutrition, a postdoctoral position is available on structural studies of protein-protein interactions at the core of the human Hedgehog signaling pathway.
The Department of Biosciences and Nutrition has state-of-the-art equipment for protein expression in E. coli, insect and mammalian cells, purification, crystallization and in house X-ray diffraction data collection (including Mosquito robotics and a brand new Rigaku CompactHome Lab system with a Pilatus P200K detector). Frequent access to synchrotron sites (DIAMOND, ESRF, BESSY) and excellent computational facilities are also available. With its close integration of academic, clinical and industrial research, KI offers a highly international and collaborative environment for biomedical studies.
The applicant will be financed by a scholarship.
Qualifications
To qualify the applicant must hold a doctor's degree or a foreign qualification deemed equivalent to a doctorate degree.
The candidate must have significant experience in studying protein-protein interactions using both biochemical and crystallographic approaches. Previous experience with protein expression in mammalian cells and X-ray diffraction data collection at synchrotron will be a distinct advantage. Familiarity with SAXS data collection and processing will also be a plus. At least one first author paper in a high quality international peer-reviewed journal, fluency in english and a strong personal drive to excel in science are required.
Entry requirements
Scholarships to pursue postdoctoral studies may be awarded to individuals who come from other countries with the intention of remaining in Sweden only while obtaining all or part of their education. The head of the department determines whether their previous training and scholarly qualifications correspond to a Swedish PhD or higher. Having received a salary or other remuneration from Karolinska Institutet during the past two years may be disqualifying.

One requirement for receiving a scholarship for postdoctoral studies is central registration as a postdoc.

Type of scholarship
Karolinska Institutet awards scholarships to pursue postdoctoral studies. This educational scholarship, which is paid for a maximum of two years within five years after the receipt of a PhD or the equivalent, is tax-exempt.
