希腊佩特雷大学计算材料学博士后职位
The Department of Materials Science, University of Patras, Greece invites applications for a
Post-doctoral research position in Computational Materials Science
The Department of Materials Science is a fast-growing academic unit of the University of Patras aiming to promote the research on modern materials with an outstanding publication record. The University of Patras, Greece is the third largest university in Greece with almost 800 faculty members and more than ten thousand students located in the north part of Pellopenese.
As part of an Excellence Research project, cofunded by the European Union and the Greek state, which is supervised by Dr. Iosif Galanakis a 13 months fully funded postdoctoral position is available which should begin 01 July 2014 the latest. Net salary is about 1600€ per month. The research project is entitled "Heusler alloys based heterostructures showing perpendicularmagneticanisotropyforspintronicapplications".Theprojectis cofundedby the European Union (European Social Fund) and the Greek State under the "ARISTEIA II" Action of the "OPERATIONAL PROGRAMME EDUCATION AND LIFELONG LEARNING . Project focus on the modeling of the magnetic and electronic properties of interfaces between Heusler compounds and binary ferromagnets. Such structures should offer new functionalities in spintronic/magnetoelectronic devices. The modeling will include the extensive use of ab-initio electronic structure methods as well as methods to determine the relaxed interface structure. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Iosif Galanakis, an expert on half-metallic systems
Your Qualifications
The ideal candidate should hold a PhD degree in computational materials science or a related field. A strong technical and scientific background in ab-initio electronic structure calculations is also mandatory. Other qualities which will be also evaluated include: i) the field of Basic studies, ii) the Master thesis, iii) level of English, iv) Programming in FORTRAN, v) Experience in administrating cluster/servers and using LINUX/UNIX operating systems, vi) any knowledge on molecular dynamics methods, vii) publications in international scientific journals, viii) conference proceedings, and ix) interview if needed.
