In the Department of Psychosomatic Medicin and Psychotherapy at the Medical University Hospital Tübingen, we are offering a position for

a Research Associate (50 %)

The position is embedded within the Graduate School "Psychobiology of Overweight — Aspects within the life cycle“, which is funded by the Center of Nutritional Medicine Tübingen/Hohenheim. The position is funded for one year with the perspective of a prolongation.

Background: Body Image distortions are found in eating and weight disorders, but also in patients with neurological impairments after stroke. Body image distortions are difficult to treat and at the same time, underlying mechanisms are hardly understood. In the project, the body image of patients with eating and weight disorders as well as with neurological disorders will be assessed using a 3D body scanner. The reserach project is a cooperation with the Centre of Neurology Tübingen (Prof. Karnath) and the Max-Planck-Institute Tübingen (Prof. Black / Dr. Mohler).

We look for applications with a degree in Medicine, Psychology, Biology, Neuroscience or a related field, with a strong background in empirical research methods and a strong interest in psychosomatic and neurological research questions as well as interest in clinical contexts and contact with patients. Good knowledge of the German language is required to allow for the work with patients. We strongly support the preparation of a PhD thesis within this project and offer the integration within the above mentioned graduate school.
