Job Purposes: a postdoctoral/Research Associate position is available to conduct research on muscular dystrophy.
We seek highly motivated candidates for the full-time position of Research Associate. This is an NIH-funded research project incorporating molecular, cellular and physiological approaches, and various knockout and transgenic mouse models to identify molecular mechanisms of muscle membrane integrity in muscular dystrophy. The successful candidate will possess skill set in cell, molecular and physiology with an emphasis on membrane integrity and muscle function. The candidate should be able to work independently as well as collaboratively to lead the project. The department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology is a diverse and interdisciplinary environment which help sharpen the critical thinking and analytical skills of next generation of scientists and prepare them to succeed in an increasingly diverse and interconnected world.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead a research project in close collaboration with the PI and other lab members.
Advance technical aspects of experimental approaches and mechanistic understanding of biological problem.
Mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
Maintain detailed records of research activities.
Present research findings in meetings and publish manuscripts in scientific journals.
Apply for independent funding and contribute to grant proposals submitted by the PI.
Minimum required qualifications: Master degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology or related field. Must be highly self-motivated and a critical thinker, able to work with small animals and conduct independent and creative research.
Preferred quantifications: Experience with muscle proteins and function, and handling/dissection of small rodents; experience in skeletal muscle biology or physiology; prior experience with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy models.
Rate of Pay: $48,000-52,000
